This is Skate UMaine. This is a project I made with the application Prezi by uploading videos and pictures. The intent I had for this project was to push new and upcoming freshman, or transfer students, to go out and skate! When I was a freshman, I had no clue where to skate on campus. I had to go out and discover them on my own. I’ve been living on campus for 3 years and have the campus memorized and know where all of the different skate locations are. Also, I have found out how likely you are to get kicked out of these certain spots so I developed a 5 star system to represent how high the rating is of being asked to leave. 1 star meaning the location is good, while 5 stars means that you will get the cops called on you. Every year, the population of the skateboarding community seems to increase. However, where are all of us skateboarders suppose to skate if we get kicked out of places and no one will build a place for us to skate and practice? That is where Skate UMaine comes into play. This application walks you through campus, taking stops at every skate spot on the way. Each stop you can get a taste of the obstacles and surroundings so you can get an idea of what there is to skate. You also get to view short clips and photos of my friends and myself skating whatever the spot provides.
